Modern Warfare 2 Is Now Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Activision are worried about brand awareness. It’s simple if people don’t realise modern warfare 2 is call of duty then Activision are worried they’ll loose a lot of sales and of course seeing how Activision are the new EA money is a very important substance.
About the name change an Activison spokesperson told Kotaku the following:
“We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series. Infinity Ward, the original creators of the Call of Duty franchise, has said from the beginning Modern Warfare 2 resides in the Call of Duty universe. This is reflected in the title’s package.”
It’s interesting that Activision have back-tracked, it certainly highlights the fact that they are have little confidence in the modern warfare brand which is silly really as we all know that calling the game modern warfare 2 would sell a lot of copies. Although they’ve not clarified there reasons and never will, it’s certainly obvious, Call of Duty is worth more as a brand than modern warfare is.
